5 Signs You Might Have A Yeast Infection
Yeast infections, also known as thrush or more correctly as candidiasis is a common ailment for women and for men. It can occur in many places such as the mouth, navel, throat and more but it is most often associated with vaginal yeast infections which are a source of pain, irritation and embarrassment among many women. The symptoms of thrush are not always immediately obvious however so here are 5 signs you might have a yeast infection to help you make an informed decision.
* 1. Itching – One of the most common signs of yeast infections is an itching sensation in the region affected by the thrush. This can be extremely uncomfortable and there is little immediate relief from the sensation.
* 2. Burning – Often seen as a more severe version of the itching when the skin feels hot and an acidic burning sensation spreads through out the affected area.
* 3. Soreness – Sometimes the skin can become extremely sensitive and sore because of the yeast infection and can even swell up and make it painful to urinate or to have sex. Extreme cases make it difficult to walk or even sit down as any contact can be painful.
* 4. Swelling – The yeast infected area can start to swell, sometimes as a result of trying to scratch it which is not advised and sometimes simply due to the soreness of the tissue.
* 5. Discharge – Sometimes there is a thick yogurt like discharge from the yeast infection that smell like yeast. The amount can be very small to a lot but it is a clear signs you might have a yeast infection.
