Infant (male) yeast infection?
My daughter (4) has a yeast infection & I just noticed a few little red bumps (very small) on my sons penis. I called his doctor who said to use my daughters anti fungal cream and she would see him next week when she gets back into town. She sais yeast infections can easily transfer back & forth between little children. I am just a bit consierned as she has not seen him. If any one knows what a yeat infection looks like on a infant male or knows of a link to a image I would so appreciate it. Also if your child had one at a young age did the anti fungal cream work? Thanks for all your help!

My son had them and the best thing we found to work was simply Sudocreme worked better than the anti-fungal cream we were given thats for sure.
A yeast rash will look majoritively like redness (blotchy appearance) with tiny bumps. It wont be resolved by diaper cream. I used Nystatin the first time my daughter had it (available by rx only) but found that Diflucan topical available OTC worked just as well.
Make sure that any clothing, changing pads or cloths that have come in contact with the rash be washed at least 3 times with hot water and soap before putting them back on your baby. Yeast is resilient and can live in clothing fibers for a long time.
It is very common. I found this link, maybe it will help.

I work in daycare in the baby/toddler room and I have had babies with yeast infections before. Its usually a bunch of little bumps all over the exterior of their pubic area. My nephew had a yeast infection when he was a baby due to antibiotics. Use the anti fungal creme the doctor told you to use or use a and d ointment and burnt flour (take flour and put it in a skillet and brown it use it when changing the diaper it absorbs all the moisture and it will just roll off the baby’s genital area.)
My son had them several times from about 2 weeks of age on (I had antibiotics and was breatfeeding) and my 5 week old had thrush and a rash now.
It looks like diaper rash only BRIGHT red and has some bumps. and the anti-fungal cream knocks it out in about 2 days.
My sister’s son had a yeast infection when he was young, he actually had several breakouts. She used the cream and it seems like it worked just fine to me. Make sure you wash your hands between the kids, and don’t share washclothes between them, or any one else.
Acidopholus is a natural bacteria that kills candida(yeast), you can find it in yogurt. Make sure you read the label to find the natural bacteria. But if you need something immediately, you’ll need to get a prescription. I don’t think antifungal med. will do good in the long run, I do know there’s topical med. over the counter. Anyway, I hope your baby gets better. Remember to always research information.
my son gets them all the time the first one he had gotten was when he was just a couple months old and they gave him the cream it works wonders and believe me nothing else helps it go away, rash cream and powder with help ease the burning that he may get but it wont go away USE THE ANTI FUNGLE CREAM, and what you are describing sounds exactly what a male yeast infection is good luck and take care of it before it gets worse cause other wise you will have a screaming babe on your hands good luck
its fine quite worrying. even if you had something for a yeast infection you could use it on him. its red and bumpy, kinda raw lookin. but it’ll heal if you use the cream. Also yogurt helps if they will eat it, the active cultures fight yeast. you could also apply straight to the spot but if they are older thats kinda hard to do
yes a yeast infection is tiny little red bumps in clusters, yes use the cream that she said, if it does not go away have him seen by her partner or the doc in the er. It is not serious. just follow up him the md. My son was using nystatin
It’s not too uncommon; my son developed one when he was taking antibiotics that killed off all the "good" bacteria, and allowed the yeast present on his skin to grow. A bit of an antifungal medication cleared it right up. I thought it was diaper rash, so that may give you an idea of what it looks like. At the very least, it’s not going to do him any harm to try the antifungal cream, and if it doesn’t work, you can call the doctor back. The stuff my doc gave me to put on my son worked literally in 24 hours. Good luck.
